Tune in to slow down around schools

Get the help you deserve

With more than 17,590 motorists caught across Queensland for speeding through school zones from January to August this year authorities are now looking at new technology to get motorists to slow down.

The use of technology capable of intercepting a motorist’s radio to broadcast a message warning the driver to slow down as they go through school zones is being researched with trials to be performed in Queensland.

As a driver approaches a school zone, similar to what currently happens in tunnels, the driver would receive a message over their radio reminding them to look up, slow down, you’re in a school zone.

The radio technology combined with the solar powered flashing lights around school zones shows that technology has become an important feature of road safety and keeping our children safe.

The State Government recently committed up to $12 million to deliver 300 new flashing school zone signs over the next three years across Queensland.

Always remember to slow down and drive safely in a school zone.
