Total and permanent disability (TPD) claims questions
What is TPD insurance?
Insurance that pays out if you become permanently disabled and can’t work. Most people have it through their super fund.
Am I eligible for TPD?
If you:
- Can’t work due to injury or illness
- Previously had paid employment
- Have a super account with TPD cover
How much will I get?
It depends on your insurance amount. Check your super statement or call your fund.
How long does it take?
Usually 3-12 months, depending on the complexity of your case.
What if I have multiple super accounts?
You might be able to claim from each account that has TPD insurance.
Is TPD taxable?
It depends on whether it’s inside or outside super. We’ll explain the tax implications.
